LIVING ELECTRONICS!!
At university of Nebraska USA,showed that bacteria coated with gold nanoparticles can function as a humidity sensor.They produced a chip covered with fine gold electrodes and applied a suspension of bascillus cereus,causing bacteria to bridge electrode pairs .This composite was dipped in solution of gold nanoparticles coated with polylysine(synthetic protein)
Tiny gold particles were attracted to the bacterial surface,which contained long highly mobile chain molecules that were negatively charged.These surrounded the positively charged gold particles and held them tight.
At the end of this process,the bacteria were coated with a thin layer of gold nanoparticles and were still alive.Then 10v was applied across the electrode pairs and measured the current across the bacterial bridges to complete the bioelectronic humidity sensor
